Wimbledon 2008: Week 2

Week two of Wimbledon is upon us and it has been interesting Grand Slam. A lot of top people were defeated early, and it left the Ladies' Singles wide open.

My picks for this year were:

Venus Williams - Ladies' Singles Champion

I picked Venus Williams because she is my favorite female player on Sony Ericsson WTA Tour and the grass courts of Wimbledon is her best surface. Not to mention that she is the defending champion and has won 4 times.

Rafael Nadal - Gentleman's Singles Champion

I picked Rafael Nadal because there were reports that the grass this year at Wimbledon was playing slower than usual. I really want Roger Federer to win but something tells me that Rafael Nadal may take it this year.

So hopefully my picks will win.

To commemorate the early lost of so many top players, I made this video:

Better luck next year!

My Feelings in Verse - Part III

I am
One
Singular and
First

Me
Multiplied by
Not me is me
(Zeros need not apply)

This One
One day hopes to find
The One
To be his equal

Feelings in Verse - Part II

Looking
Searching
For someone to tell you how great you look
Despite having someone that tells you this everyday

Analyzing
Obsessing
About the distorted view you have about yourself
Despite having someone that tell you who you really are

Flirting
Conspiring
With people from the seedy side of the Information Superhighway
Despite connecting to the person next to you

When all is revealed
And immunity is given for the truth
You say nothing?
Despite having someone still wanting to be there for you

Silence and lies
Hurt
More than the truth
Despite having to learn the truth about yourself

Which will you choose?
Was this all worth your
Need to feel
Validated?

Feelings in Verse - Part I

Love
A person
Unconditionally
Flaws and all
With the hope that it will continue to flourish

Relationships
The merging of two individuals
Compromise
Is what is needed to make things work
As a cohesive unit

Communication
Needed to understand
One's feeling and needs
Without this
How can love survive?

Expectations
Set so high
Makes failure unavoidable
Nobody is perfect
Admitting this is brave

Love
Shown in different ways
With words and/or actions
Not easy at times
Effort is needed to keep it strong

Knowing you are loved
By someone makes
Everything
In life
Easier

Convalescing

Hey all!

It's been a really long time since I've posted a message on my blog. I have been battling a virus which wiped me of my energy and I have been out of work on a medical leave since 5/7/2008. I have been laying on my couch for 5 weeks trying to recuperate, and I am about 90% recovered. I will need another month or so for rest and exercise before I am back to 100 percent.

The most upsetting part of being out of commission for weeks is that I missed tennis tournaments in May and will not be able to participate in tournaments in June. I am looking to get back into things in July but I need to practice because I haven't touch my racket in 5 weeks. I played this past Sunday and I was winded during the 10 minutes warm-up. I had to take several breaks during the 1.5 hour session so I only player for about 40 minutes. It was good to be back on the court and hitting balls after being laid up for weeks -- but I have lost some of my game. I will be using June to regain my fitness and tennis form.

I am finally back at work, and it is good to be back. I like going to work because it gives me a sense of structure and it allows me to plan the rest of my day. And besides, you can only watch so much television before it because kind of boring. But, I was able to watch a number of things while being on my couch for weeks:

- The Simpsons (Seasons 16, 17, 18 ,19)
- American Dad (Seasons 2-3)
- The Secret Diary of a Call Girl (UK Version, but now being shown in the US on Showtime)
- Code Monkeys (Season 1)
- Australia's Next Top Model (Season 4, eps 1-7)
- French Open Live Coverage

So I had somethings to keep my occupied.

Things are getting back to normal so I should resume normal postings next week.

Did you miss me?
