Hello, Hello, Hello

It's been a while since my last post, but you know how things go when you are busy. I am in the process of looking out houses/condos to possibly move to. I have a couple of months on my current lease, so I have been really focusing on that. I would like to stay in my current area, but I haven't found anything I really loved and had to have. I found 10 more properties outside of my target area, so we'll see what will happen.

The 2009 tennis has officially started and I am trying to get match ready before my first major tournament in 6 weeks. I am still knocking off the rust but I think I have the time to get things in order before the tournament in Austin, TX. Historically, I have never done well at the tournament because of lack of preparation ... so I am looking to change things.

With all of this, I am contemplating recapping Project Runway Canada Season 2. But I am not sure if time will allow. I am hoping to a recap on ep 1 and 2 on Monday .

Project Runway Australia

First it was the US, then the UK, then Canada ... now Australia.


Project Runway Australia (PRAus) premiered this past Monday, and after seeing the first episode I think will be watching the entire series. I have watched all the incarnations of Project Runway and I think that the Australian version is the best. I know that is a bold statement considering that I have only see one episode, but until I am proved otherwise, I am going to stick that statement.

With Project Runway US premiering on July 16th, the original show isn't as enjoyable as when it first premiered. I have become indifferent to Tim Gunn because a mentor he doesn't do much to assist the designers on the show. That may be due to editing, but since I have been watching the show I have rarely seen him touch the clothing that is being made or offer assistance to make it better. Saying, "make it work," "that worries me," and "that's a whole lot of look" doesn't really give clear guidance to the designer. As much as I like Tim, he has been reduced to catch phrases.

Mentors Ben di Lisi (UK), Brian Bailey (Canada), and Henry Roth (Australia) and willing to tell the designer what is wrong with the garment they are making, but is the designers choice whether to use the advice. I think that's how things should be. But there has been an issue with a mentor being too helpful. Ben di Lisi, in series 3 of Project Catwalk, was accused by the other designers of giving too much help to a particular designer. Ben got all offended, but not to level of Tyra Banks on ANTM.

I will be watching the rest of the series, but I won't be doing a recap of the show. I may comment on episodes from time to time, but recaps are really time consuming. If you don't live in Australia, you should be able to catch the episodes YouTube at some point or bitTorrent.


If this guy's hair can't convince you to watch, then there is nothing more I can do.

How come I didn't know about there was a Canadian version of Project Runway until recently?

I been going through some major Project Runway withdrawal since PR3 ended last year. I tried to watch Project Catwalk (the UK version) to fill the void, but with Kelly Osbourne as the host, it made me miss Heidi Klum even more. So when I found Project Runway Canada on YouTube, I thought I found my temporary fix so I could make it to November 14th, when the original Project Runway premiers on Bravo. It didn't work out the way I planned.


PR Canada is hosted by Iman, which I thought would be awesome, but she seems too good for the show. I mean, she is a legendary model and she is married to David Bowie. Most hosts are 2nd tier models or C-list celebrities. I love the show because it basically a trashy reality show with people whom have a discernible skill, and Iman just make the show too high-class with her regality. Also, why in the hell is she hosting PR Canada anyway? Why not the UK version?

There were two people I kind of like:

Marie Genevieve Cyr of Montreal, Quebec
Evan Biddell of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
They are both a bit bitchy, and in reality shows I like that. Marie is disappointed that no one else speaks French, and looks forward to swearing a lot in that language. Sacré bleu! Evan is handsome, despite the airbrush picture and the wacky haircut.

If the theme song with some woman wailing "...on the RUNWAY! Woah, woah, woah!" wasn't bad enough, the catch phrase they tried to create for Iman is worst.

"You just don't measure up. Chow."

could never top Heidi Klum's,

"In fashion, you're in or out. Aufwiedersehen."

A close second would be Project Catwalk's "fashion has no mercy" spiel.

Edited: I just watched the second episode of PR Canada, and take back everything I said about it and Iman. Iman gives so much attitude to the designers, and I love her for that. No one is going to give her a load of BS. I am totally hooked on the show now.


Kendra is my favorite to win after seeing what she designed using 13 plaid umbrella (ella, ella -- Rihianna) fabrics.


They gave Kendra a underdog storyline in episode two, so I think she is going to win it all.
